Hublot makes a glittering statement with the Spirit of Big Bang Impact in Geneva - Watches & Wonders 2026 #WatchesandWonders2026

A decade after the original Big Bang Impact Bang redefined visual intensity with its fragmented diamond motif, Hublot has projected this impactful architecture onto sapphire and ceramic. Unveiled in Geneva, the new Spirit of Big Bang Impact collection marks a significant milestone for the brand as it introduces the first ever sapphire diamond setting in its history. By pushing the boundaries of material science, Hublot has successfully set diamonds directly into sapphire, a feat that demands extraordinary precision and technical mastery.

The collection is presented in three distinct limited editions that showcase the brand's versatility with complex materials. From the deep tones of All Black ceramic to the cosmic sparkle of sapphire and osmium, each piece is sculpted in the signature 42 mm tonneau case. The Spirit of Big Bang Impact Sapphire Jewellery edition is particularly striking, featuring 145 fancy-cut diamonds that extend the fragmented motif from the sapphire dial to the bezel.

Setting gems into sapphire, which is one of the hardest materials on Earth, introduces an entirely new dimension of complexity. Because every diamond is unique in its cut and size, Hublot technicians must create individually adapted channels and mounts for every single stone. The diamonds are secured within polished gold channels and inserted into laser-machined mounts in the sapphire, a process that requires hundreds of hours to complete for a single case.

For those drawn to the rarest materials, the sapphire and osmium edition incorporates crystallized osmium, which is considered the rarest metal on Earth. This metal features a naturally bluish radiance that shines unlike any other, transformed into a stable crystal form through a sophisticated process. In this 30-piece limited edition, rhodium-plated appliques alternate with osmium shards across the dial, creating a celestial effect.

The collection also pays tribute to two decades of the iconic All Black concept, where understated black ceramic becomes a bold statement through microblasted and polished finishes. At the core of these editions, the HUB1770 skeletonized automatic movement drives a moonphase display at 6 o'clock and a Big Date at 1 o'clock. This caliber participates actively in the visual impact, proving once again that Hublot continues to challenge convention through its unique Art of Fusion.
